When Tammy Sinkfield-Morey began her career as a nurse at Gillette, she was the first black woman to do so. Through the years, she’s been a tireless advocate for building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace at Gillette. We recently spoke with Tammy about an article she co-authored in Creative Nursing, and what celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day means to her.

Gillette nursing supervisor, Tammy Sinkfield-Morey, RN, was recently named the 2019 Caregiver of the Year by the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA). Earlier this year she won the prestigious March of Dimes Minnesota Distinguished Nurse of the Year Award. Hugs and a devotion to honoring stories are two of the keys to Sinkfield-Morey's nursing career success.
